JCM ENGINEERING
Carlo Moyano (www.jcmcorp.com) moved with his family from Argentina when he was 8 years old. Carlo’s father, Jose, believed he could make a better life for his family. Using the “American Dream” as inspiration, Jose and Carlo created JCM ENGINEERING, a manufacturer of precision machine components and assemblies for the aerospace, defense and commercial airline industries. In 1991, Jose retired. Carlo decided to expand the business and further its manufacturing capabilities beyond the aerospace industry. But this was quite difficult for Carlo in the beginning. Meeting the demands of clients was challenging. The more challenging it was, the more Carlo realized they needed more advanced technology to be capable of completing their jobs. But Carlo’s vision paid off. Today, JCM is run out of a state-of-the-art facility in Ontario, CA. Thanks to Carlo’s ambition, Boeing gave JCM the prestigious “Supplier of the Year” Award. Carlo wants to sharpen the company’s focus and expand to secure large Military and Aerospace contracts.

BTL MACHINE
Brothers Buu and Tu Van Vo (www.btlmachine.com) came to the United States after escaping Vietnam in 1980. They settled in Tacoma, WA. where they lived with a sponsor family. After moving around the country, going to school and working in various manufacturing companies, they decided to start BTL MACHINE with $30,000 of their combined savings. They initially built bike parts. This proved to be a major challenge because their English was poor and they had no clients. They then researched the aerospace industry while attempting to diversify their business. They went to Boeing and bid on a job to manufacture parts. They won the bid thanks to their company’s quality and precision. Today BTL Machine employs 37 people and revenues are $7.7 million. Recently, BTL won Boeing’s “Bronze” Supplier Award. The brothers’ goal is to achieve “Silver” Supplier Status. They project $8 million in revenue for 2004.
