NATEL
ENGINEERING
Natel Engineering (www.natelengr.com) has been a microelectronics
manufacturing leader for more than 25 years, growing in
size as well as experience. Their services include: design
of substrate and packages, thick film processing, automatic
assembly for medium to high volumes, package seals of
all types, including automatic linear weld, ribbon and
wire bonding, flip-chip and tab interconnects, automatic
SMT assembly. Sudesh Arora was working for MW International
when the owners decided to shut it down in 1971. He and
the President of the company went to the owners and said
that they would buy the company from them. In 1981 Sudesh’s
partner wanted to retire, so Sudesh bought him out with
what little money he had. It was 5 years into the business
when they started manufacturing microelectronics. Sudesh
has been able to grow Natel through streamlined manufacturing
of microelectronics and acquisitions of other companies.
Sudesh said that the acquisitions were actually chance
opportunities. Today the main facility is in Chatsworth
with a second building next door, and an additional location
in Simi Valley. Most of Natel’s employees have been
with the company 20 years plus. “They know what
I think before I even say it. They have a pretty good
grasp on what needs to be done.”
GLAACC
The
Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce
(GLAAACC) (www.glaaacc.org) was established in 1991 by
a group of business owners and executives led by Gene
Hale, President of G&C Equipment Corp. and Homer Broome,
President of Marvid Associates. Their vision was to create
an organization that would serve as an advocate for African
American-owned business enterprises and to promote their
growth and expansion into the international arena. GLAAACC
sponsors fundraisers, awards dinners, and forums regularly.
At these events our members are afforded the opportunity
to meet, exchange business cards and have dialog and develop
relationships with potential customers. In keeping with
their mission, the Chamber has been active in its advocacy
and support of African American business enterprise by
providing a variety of programs and services to assist
in their growth and development. The Chamber's immediate
goal is to increase African American participation in
the multi-billion dollar Los Angeles County business arena.
GLAAACC offers many programs and services that support
and encourage the African American community and will
continue to do so.
